Bed Bases: The Foundation of a Good Night's Sleep
A bed base works in tandem with a mattress to provide even better support. From extra-firm to extra-soft (made possible by our bellows technique), from ultra-traditional to ultra-modern, with springs or slats, Lit National has an extensive range of comfort options to choose from.
Traditional Woodworking
Our woodworkers use Picardy blond poplar, a natural untreated wood harvested using sustainable forestry techniques, to build the frames for our bed bases.
Untreated Solid Wood
Not too hard, not too soft, and totally knot-free, poplar wood offers the perfect density and strength. The raw planks are planed, shaped, cut and assembled using nails, not glue.
Crafting Traditional Bed Bases
Our bed makers employ our unique know-how to craft traditional upholstered bed bases. They fasten the steel springs by hand-tying them with oiled linen cords using a complex eight-way process.
The Perfect Touch
Once the bed base is filled with springs or slats, it is encased in sturdy canvas fabric and upholstered with ticking. We then construct a coir roll by hand-stitching around the entire edge of the box spring.
